“As an architect, I believe that it is essential for our designs to feature indigenous materials to the region where the project exists.  No other material displays the warmth and character of our region the way natural stone does.  For the Heifer International Headquarters in Little Rock, Arkansas, our goal was to create a sustainable building that would appear to literally grow out of the site naturally, from rough stone to cut stone, then to warm brick and cool steel.  The perfect solution for our purposes was Schwartz Stones’ Blue Stone.  The natural veins of color that run through this stone allow it to change color in different light, from warm grey/brown to a cool grey.  The Blue Stone allows all the building materials to blend together perfectly, becoming the primary connector between land and building while reflecting the landscape of Arkansas.  The building’s appearance changes throughout the day because of the stone.   We could not be more pleased with the results.

We were equally pleased with working with Schwartz Stone, who worked diligently to meet our requirements for stone size, color, and cut, delivered within our time schedule in a very professional and courteous manner.  Their selection of stone covers every possible combination that we look for in color and texture.”
